DISEASE, HEART ATTACK & STROKE
An on-the-job injury includes heart-related or vascular injury, illness or
death if it is due to stress in excess of that experienced by a person in
the conduct of everyday living. This stress must be directly related to the
worker’s employment. These can be some of the toughest cases to prove in
Worker’s Compensation Court, as it can be difficult to link the
stress-related medical findings to an individual’s employment. The law
regarding heart-related problems is changing and new case law may provide
assistance if you think you have had a heart attack or stroke due to your
job.
