PERMANENT DISABILITY
Permanent Partial Disability (PPD). PPD compensates an employee for his/her
permanent disability due to an injury. Once you have reached maximum medical
recovery, you should be rated by a physician. Physicians’ ratings vary,
depending upon many factors, not the least of which is by whom they are
being paid. PPD is based on 70% of the employee’s average weekly wage, not
to exceed the maximum rate of $264.00 per week. If an adjuster offers to
settle your claim, remember that it is the adjuster’s job to save money and
that you may be entitled to other benefits and additional compensation.
Despite what an adjuster may tell you, you are not limited by what your
treating physician rates you for PPD.
Permanent Total Disability (PTD). PTD benefits are awarded when an employee
can no longer work at any job due to education, training, experience or
physical disability or any combination of these factors. If you have any
questions about PTD please contact an attorney.
